Hi hello - welcome to my first blog post! If I had to give the reason why I decided start this blog, it is simply because I adore fashion - but most of all, I love lingerie. And no, I’m not talking about the garbage you see slapped on Victoria’s Secret ads of what they call “the perfect bra” on the “perfect body.” The mainstream marketing of the lingerie industry leads us to believe that lingerie’s only purpose is to please your man. No. Just stop right there. One of the things I love most about lingerie is that it's an art form of its own. The delicate laces and luxurious feel of fine fabrics on your skin feels like heaven. Not only that, but it exudes empowerment and confidence when we wear it. Fashion isn’t new on anyone’s radar. And the way I see it is: fashion is for everyone. Every culture from all over the world has some sort of root in the art of fashion. This goes for lingerie as well. Lingerie, unlike fashion, has no limitations; you can be as creative during the day wearing it under your clothes the world sees just as you can during the night. You can do it for your own desire, or for someone else. It serves a function as well as a creative expression. Ever since I was a teen I suffered from body dysmorphic disorder (and still am). I started modeling when I was 18 to try and change the way I perceived myself to a more positive view. While this did help some, I would always revert to thoughts such as "I look good here because of Photoshop" or "Oh, I'm hiding my stomach so you can't see the part of my body I hate most." I became fixated on what I hated most about my body. I would skip meals, obsessively work out, fish for compliments and it still was never enough. It took me a very, very long time to realize this is not a healthy way to live my life. When I find that perfect piece or set of lingerie, many of those toxic thoughts I have about myself dissipate. I look at my collection, albeit very small right now, and I’m reminded that this is for me (and sometimes my husband) - not everyone else. I hope that sharing this intimacy will inspire you in some shape or form. Until then, I’d like to share what is my current favorite lingerie set: The Dita Von Teese Madame X set. I actually bought this set as my bridal set but here I paired it with a Free People dress worn as a robe! Bisous, Devin Digital & film photos by Jason Henderson @jwhenderson
